Paediatric First Aid

The Paediatric First Aid course focuses on situations that can occur around those looking after young children and infants. This course meets the requirements of Ofsted Early Years and Childcare Register.

Length of Course: 2 Days


Length of qualification: 3 Years
Recommended annual 3 hour refresher for year 1 and 2

Who should attend?

This course is for people working with young children and those working towards an Early Years educator qualification, including day nurseries, private nursery schools, pre-schools, before and after school clubs for children in the early years age group, childminders and carers of children at home.

Practicals

An emphasis on attendees being relaxed and feeling comfortable attempting practicals is always at the forefront of SAH Training, building confidence, knowledge and skills.

Equipment used includes:

  • Choking vest
  • CPR Manikins
  • Auto-injectors ( epi-pens )
  • Tourniquets
  • Bandages
  • Wound packing

Assessment

Attendees will be observed and will need to be deemed confident and competent in all practical elements, skills and knowledge.

Course Requirements

Candidates need a good understanding of English. Candidates must be physically able to demonstrate the practical skills required to complete the assessment.

Certification

Successful candidates receive a SAH Training certificate, valid for three years.

Important Information

In line with Ofsted Early Years and Childcare Register requirements, at least one person on the premises must have a current full paediatric first aid certificate and available at all times when children are present, and must accompany children on outings. Childminders, and any assistant who might be in sole charge of the children for any period of time, must hold a current full paediatric first aid certificate.

FREE Annual Refresher Course

Every Paediatric First Aid booking includes the FREE Annual Refresher course for all previous participants in group bookings through SAH Training. Training must be scheduled in advance with past participants in attendance at one visit for offer to apply. SAH Training certification will be required per participant as evidence prior to booking/on the day of training.
